Detect the robot

by Hemal

Robot Arena

Robot Arena

I need to detect a incoming robot, and my robot will be moving in a circular path which is autonomous.

The circular path has wall of 10 cm height and slots provided at 60 degree offset.

There is flag at the center ...the radius of outer circle is 1230mm and inner circle is 600mm, the red line is in the middle.

When the incoming robot is detected. It has to give some kind of indication by a led or a buzzer,I don't know what sensors to use, don't know even their type, not even what microcontroller to use nor how to program it.

The other robot will try to capture the flag.

I agree, you need to know how to program and get used to making the robot move around and do basic maneuvers first. But as far as detecting you could use many things depending on what the other robot is made of. You could use a infrared sensor but that would also see the walls if it got too close (I don't know if that maters for you or not)or an inductance sensor if the other robot is made of metal or has a fair amount of metal around it (the QT113 sensor if a cheap and effective way for touch or inductance sensing) Else you could use touch, ultrasonic, or some other ways to find it.

Given your knowledge (or lack thereof) you're better off buying a robot kit and experiment with it in order to get an idea of ROBOT.
Only after that you may start thinking about "detecting a robot".
