Can you suggest any solution on interfaceing pic microcontroller with PC through USB port? Is their need for writing a device driver?

Interfacing a PIC to PC using USB

http://www.sparkfun.com/datasheets/DevTools/Arduino/FTDI%20Basic-v13-5V.pdf

This then allows you to interface to the PIC's USART port.

FTDI

I would recommend you use an FTDI chip.
These are quick and simple to use.
They basically convert from USB to a virtual com port so its just like using the serial port.
I use them all the time and find them great.

Vinnie.
