microcontroller based home security system help

hello every body;

I am doing a project called "micro controller based home security system". However, i face a problem on how to connect mobile with the controller directly because my aim is sending an sms message when some problem is happening.

Here, i don't know what specifications are needed in this project especially mobile type and cable specification.

However, if directly connection is not possible i need to use pc as an intermediate but i don't know what will be the role of the pc.

Simply i have read the possibility of mobile pc connectivity by using the AT commands.

Anyways, is there any one who can help me?
