PIC as Johnson Counter... Great Idea!
by: circuited

I like the idea of a second PIC for a Johnson Counter and also that it can be sync'd with another PIC.

Using a PIC that has 2 ports (28 & 40 pin) I have run a series of interesting demos on YouTube with an 8x8 LED matrix. All programming using mikroBasic and connected directly to PIC without limiting resistors:

Innovative use of PIC
by: John Main

I was going to give it 4 stars as it doesn't make sense using two PIC16F84A chips but it's an innovative way of getting round not having a 4017 Johnson counter chip.

So it gets 5 stars for innovation!

Note: The use of one clock output fed into the other PIC chip which means they are both synchronized together. It saves a crystal here.
